This Group was formed By Mr. Sonny Forbes in November 1985. Earlier years prior to forming Gospel Pioneers, Mr. Forbes played lead-guitar for the Pentecostal Baptist, where he Performed and Sang at each of their programs and concerts. He also directed both youth and adult choir at the church.

The Gospel Pioneers as it was than named had ten members. They sang and performed in each of the islands (Turks & Caicos Islands) aside from Salt Cay and traveled to Inagua, Bahamas to perform. 

Over a period of time, members begin departing the group and new members would join. At one time The Pioneers had fifteen members in the group!  

In 1990, The Pioneers was back on their feet again, consisting of Mr. Brucelee Pratt played the drums and Mr. Sonny Forbes played the Organ. They both sang at Programs and Church Services until they were able to gain additional members. The group grew to Eight members and the group were back to singing and praising God.

The Pioneers continue to travel throughout the home Islands but this time they ventured further than just The Bahama Islands, they were able to travel to Miami, Vero Beach and Orlando Florida.

In 1994, The Pioneers recorded their First album entitled: "He's Calling" with ten songs, the Second came right afterwards entitled: "Salvation" which was made up of eight songs.

 

Moving forward The Pioneers begin their third recording "Come Come Come" and "Long Enough". This one featured nine songs, which the Holy Word or Message was by Pastor Pedro Williams of Jericho Baptist Church.

In 1990 the group was named The Provo Gospel Pioneers.

 

In 1997 when the second album came out the names was change to Sonny Forbes and the Provo Gospel Pioneers in recognition to Mr. Forbes service and work rendered to the group.

By 1988 The Provo Gospel Pioneers was the number one singing group in the Turks & Caicos Islands.

Today,  the Pioneers continues to perform throughout the islands, even hosting Civil Servants Parties for the elders Annually.
